We’re living in an age where aesthetic dermatology is introducing exciting new innovations almost every year.  One such breakthrough we’re very enthusiastic about here at The Herschthal Practice is SofwaveTM, a non-surgical treatment that’s quickly gaining popularity for its remarkable skin tightening and wrinkle reduction capabilities.

So, what is Sofwave and what does it do?

What is Sofwave?

Sofwave utilizes Synchronous Ultrasound Parallel Beam technology (SUPERB™) to target the mid-dermal tissue layer. This unique parallel ultrasound beam can reach 8-10 times more skin tissue than most other devices on the market, making it incredibly effective. One of our favorite qualities of this advanced technology is that it is not only non-invasive, but it utilizes the body’s own healing mechanisms to reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

Harness the Body’s Healing Power to Reduce Fine Lines and Wrinkles

The human body is capable of remarkable feats of self-repair. The FDA-cleared Sofwave ultrasound technology puts these capabilities to use in a unique way. By precisely targeting a layer of the dermis at just the right depth, the Synchronous Ultrasound Parallel Beam technology (SUPERB™) applies heat which stimulates a process called neo-collagenases

This process results in a net increase and regeneration of collagen fibers under the skin. Collagen is a critical building block for much of the body and the protein that comprises most of our skin. This collagen rejuvenation leads to a profound reduction in fine lines and wrinkles as well as lifting the eyebrows, neck, and submental area. Clients typically see results after their very first session.

Sofwave is Convenient and Requires No Needles

One of the standout advantages that makes Sofwave so popular is that, unlike many treatments for fine lines and wrinkles, there are no needles or dermal fillers involved. This makes the procedure simpler, totally non-invasive, and especially well-suited for clients who may be a bit less comfortable with needles than some.

The advantages of Sofwave for fine lines and wrinkles include:

  • No needles or dermal fillers are necessary.
  • Sofwave is suitable for all skin types and tones.
  • A typical session takes only 30-45 minutes on an outpatient basis.
  • Most clients see visible results after only a single treatment.
  • Recovery and healing happen fairly rapidly and side effects are minimal

Sofwave Treatment Side Effects

One of the reasons Sofwave is so popular is that its potential side effects are mild, due to its non-invasive nature and the fact that no chemicals or drugs are necessary. This means allergies aren’t a concern and healing is swift. The potential side effects of the treatment include erythema, which is a temporary superficial reddening of the skin that generally passes within a few hours or days after treatment.

Edema, a temporary swelling caused by fluid in the treated areas as the healing process commences, is another possible side effect. Edema symptoms also tend to resolve within a few days of treatment. You may experience moderate discomfort during the treatment. Temporary tenderness of the skin after Sofwave treatment is also a possibility.
