5 Reasons To Get Vivace Microneedling

beauty model clear skin

You get older.

I don’t care how many situps you’ve been doing, if you’ve been eating your veggies, or if you slept 8 hours every night (do all of these things). These things DO help, still…

You get older. Skin starts to sag, wrinkles develop, mother nature is a cruel mistress and sometimes we get marks prematurely through things like acne scars.

Thankfully, it’s 2019 and you have an arsenal of different procedures that can be done at your convenience by an experienced aesthetic dermatologist. Vivace Microneedling treatment is one of the best options to deal with the common skin issues that arise with aging.

1 – It is Minimally Invasive

Microneedling is a treatment that has gained a great deal of popularity over the past decade. One of the reasons for this popularity is that it doesn’t require you to go under the knife. Instead, a device that has very tiny pins will create microscopic punctures in your skin that will confer beauty benefits. One of the chief benefits of a procedure that is minimally invasive is that it is perfect for those with a low pain threshold. The fine needles enter and exit the skin with virtually no tearing and prior to this even occurring, a numbing cream will be applied to your face to minimize any discomfort.

2 – Microneedling Works Quickly

After receiving your first treatment you will notice benefits. As the weeks go on, you will notice a gradual improvement in the firmness and complexion of your skin. The best results can be seen by about 4-6 months post-treatment as this will give time to reap the full benefits of the procedure.

3 – It Uses RF Technology to Further Enhance Microneedling Benefits

While microneedling alone provides benefits, it has been well documented that when this is coupled with RF (radio frequency) technology, the benefits are further increased as these two processes work synergistically. Vivace is a fractional microneedling radiofrequency treatment that assists in tightening the skin and minimizing the appearance of wrinkles while also creating a more toned aesthetic due it also reducing the size of your pores.

4 – Microneedling Can Reduce Scars and Stretch Marks

Like with the reduction in wrinkles and pore size, it can also be a useful treatment for acne scars and stretch marks. The portion of skin that has stretch marks can be improved through the stimulation of collagen production. Stretch marks occur when the skin is stretched too fast, too much, or both of those. This ends up disrupting the collagen production in that area and as a result, you see stretch marks as a type of scarring.

5 – There is No Downtime After Treatment

This is for some, the best part of getting a microneedling treatment. Not only will you see short term results that you will be pleased with, but the outlook 6 months out will show you the full power of this treatment in its ability to stimulate your body’s natural collagen production.

After getting treatment, you may return to your normal routine without any inconvenience save for our recommendation that you apply some sunscreen to your treated areas if you intend to go out into the sunlight. As professionals at The Herschthal Practice, after treatment, we will also recommend to you a recovery protocol so that you walk away with the best results.

Body Contouring Using WarmSculpting

flat stomach girl

What is WarmSculpting and How Does it Work?

WarmSculpting (formerly known as SculpSure) is a non-invasive FDA approved procedure that lets you contour your body to a more flattering aesthetic. This works by using a laser to target fat cells underneath the skin without affecting the upper layer. In other words, the energy penetrates into the deeper layers of the skin and eliminates fat cells. After these fat cells are worked on in a session, it will take approximately 12 weeks for your body to push those cells out of your system.

WarmSculpting is Best Supported With Diet and Exercise

Non-invasive lipolysis is an increasingly popular method at spot reducing body fat and contouring the body to a more pleasing image. However, it should be noted that it is not a primary way to lose bodyweight/fat and that is best done with exercise and dieting.

You Can’t Fully Control Your Fat Stores

Every year, come October or November in North America, a shift in gears sweeps the nation. We’ve worked hard all year, and while we will continue to work hard through the holidays pursuing our goals and aspirations, handling our responsibilities, it is no doubt the time of year to celebrate. Regardless of religious or cultural practices, we tend to do our best at putting on weight and indulging ourselves in merriment towards the end of the year.

This leads to many New Year’s Resolutions being aimed at weight loss. While many people do in fact succeed with that, an unfortunate situation becomes apparent. A person worked hard, weight loss occurred, they feel better and have more energy.

One problem.

They still don’t look the way they want to. And THAT is where a process like WarmSculpting is invaluable. You see, while everyone can get healthy and fit, the path to a completely lean stomach varies from person to person. Everyone has a different fat distribution on their body, and unfortunately, some people just tend to store disproportionately more of it on the trunk as opposed to their arms or legs.

Why is this a problem?

There comes a point where dieting down is difficult and unhealthy. What one person looks like at 12-15% body is not the same as another. Some people are simply leaner in the trunk at a higher body fat percentage than others. That means that if you are someone who stores a lot of body fat naturally in your midsection, your quest to diet down to a completely flat stomach may leave you feeling less than optimal all the time.

With WarmSculpting, you can even out this aesthetic disadvantage by spot reducing that area while still maintaining a healthy relationship with food.

What Can I Expect from My WarmSculpting Session?

When you come into The Herschthal Practice, you can rest assured you will be taken care of by some of the finest that aesthetic dermatology has to offer. Our staff is adept at making you feel comfortable and relaxed come the time of your appointment.

After answering any last-minute questions you may have about the procedure, you’ll be sat down in a cozy seat and the spots you’d like to be reduced will be marked. Then, an applicator belt that holds the device will be attached to you and will intermittently send out pulses of laser energy to the areas that are to be reduced. In between pulses, the belt cools your skin to keep you feeling comfortable. While you might think a tremendous amount of heat is necessary to melt fat cells, this is not the case. The vast majority of patients feel no discomfort save for a slight tingling sensation and warmth.

Overall, this procedure takes no more than 25-30 minutes to complete. Because it is non-invasive, you could easily take a lunch break, melt some fat, and be on your way back to work with none the wiser! As mentioned before, it will take up to 12 weeks for your body to metabolize the fat cells that were eliminated.

Herschthal Practice Now Offering Plasma Pen Treatment!

clear skin model

What is the Plasma Pen?

One of the latest and greatest things that technology has to offer aesthetic dermatology is the Subnovii Plasma Pen! A plasma pen is a handheld tool that can mitigate wrinkling, collagen loss, and the subsequent skin sagging that occurs after this loss of collagen. It is a non-invasive method of treating all of those aforementioned issues and it is also FDA approved. The handheld device is a convenient way to administer fibroblast therapy, which is a technique that stimulates collagen production in the skin.

What is Fibroblast Treatment?

Using the plasma pen, phenomenal lifting, tightening, and rejuvenating effects can be imparted onto the skin. The plasma pen works by imparting heat into tiny columns in the skin. The surface is subject to microtrauma and heat is conducted through those columns deeper into the skin which stimulates collagen production through heat. The upper dermal layer of the skin receives very minor damage as a result, but once it heals, the end result is firmer, more youthful-looking skin.

You can tell a plasma pen is being used by the iconic tiny little black dots that will line the treatment area.

What Are Some Issues The Plasma Pen Can Treat?

The Plasma Pen can help with a variety of common spots where the skin becomes wrinkled or saggy. Some such problems are:

  • Post acne scars
  • Crow’s feet around the edges of the eyes
  • Smile Lines as well as “marionette” lines—which are the lines that run down the corners of your mouth towards your chin
  • Lower and upper eyelids.
  • Various lines across the forehead

Cost of Plasma Pen vs Laser Treatment

Laser treatments are typically more involved in terms of downtime and more expensive than a plasma pen treatment. While they can be highly effective in certain scenarios, the overall effectiveness, and versatility of Plasma Pen treatment can be a fantastic alternative to procedures such as laser skin resurfacing.

In contrast, the Plasma Pen is more affordable—especially considering how many choices you have in terms of the area of treatment. You could choose to do forehead lines today and several months down the line opt to do another area. It can be split up quite easily.

Is There Downtime With Plasma Pen Treatment?

This one is tricky.

In terms of true downtime such as after surgery where you must rest and recover, there is no downtime. However, the plasma pen does leave some obvious signs of a procedure being done, such as the tell-tale small black dots that will require some time to go away.

You will most likely experience redness, swelling as well as scabbing in the area the treatment was performed. It will take anywhere from a week or a week and a half to “recover”. By all accounts, swelling should go down after 3-4 days at most. As with all healing times, those are just general guidelines and depending on your personal regenerative abilities, it will vary.

South FL Plasma Pen Treatment

The Herschthal Practice prides itself on offering cutting edge aesthetic dermatology treatments. So it should come as no surprise that we are now part of a small handful of providers of Subnovii Plasma Pen treatments. There are many Plasma Pens on the market, but not all achieve the same quality of results. You can rest assured that we use the best technology available and that is always evident in our results!

Get Your Face Contoured Using Ultherapy!

model good face shape

It’s Impossible to Keep Skin Pristine

It doesn’t matter who you are, life is tough in various ways. From family to careers, to goals, and much more, the skin will accumulate damage and lose elasticity over the years. The skin, as you may know, is the largest organ in (or on) the human body. The dermis is the middle layer of your skin that props up the epidermis—which is the outermost layer of skin. Collagen is a type of protein that gives the skin its elasticity. Much of the collagen in your skin is located in the dermis.

Much of the changes associated with aging happen, unsurprisingly, in the dermis. Our skin becomes thinner as we age and the cells that are tasked with producing collagen and elastin become increasingly defunct. This results in skin that is deteriorating and unable to maintain or repair itself over time. The organization of proteins in the skin is also changed, thus altering the texture of the skin.

What is Ultherapy?

Have you heard of Ultherapy? It’s an incredible procedure that is FDA approved to lift and tighten skin on the face, neck, and chest. For patients who do not wish to go under the knife or receive a facelift, Ultherapy is a perfect choice. Ultherapy non-surgical facial contouring works by using the power of ultrasound technology. Ultrasound waves penetrate the skin into the dermal layer to stimulate the production of collagen without damaging the surrounding tissues, this is arguably the most important benefit of using ultrasound. While ultrasound waves do not confer benefit as quickly as going under the knife, it is a far less harsh procedure that is capable of penetrating deeper into the treatment area without requiring invasive means.

How Is Ultherapy Different From Laser Treatment?

Laser treatment certainly has its own benefits, but the most common consensus would be that laser treatments are effective at handling the surface area of the skin—so treatments such as the laser skin resurfacing procedure we offer is a prime example of this technology used appropriately.

Facial Contouring Using Ultherapy

Facial contouring is best achieved using Ultherapy. By stimulating the production of collagen deeper into the skin, a tightening and lifting effect is achieved over time. The “trouble” areas that many people have are also very receptive to Ultherapy treatment. Areas such as the brow, which is notably very receptive to Ultherapy,  can be raised a couple of millimeters even. This creates a lengthening effect that will have a slight rollover effect on the eyes. The chin is another area that stands to benefit greatly from sessions.

How is Ultherapy Treatment Administered?

One of the greatest benefits of Ultherapy treatment is that unlike surgery, there is no downtime whatsoever. Many people report a slight tingle that can lead to some temporary discomfort or redness in the treated area. Other than that, however, you are free to do as you please before and after treatments. The Herschthal practice asserts that the initial Ultherapy treatment is sufficient at stimulating collagen production, and results can be observed within 30-90 days thereafter. Maintenance sessions are recommended every 2-5 years. The benefits over time for this treatment are fantastic.

South FL Ultherapy Treatment

Ultherapy is a great way to contour your face in certain areas you may be self-conscious about or would like to tighten up a bit. It’s non-invasive and FDA approved, so for those who are hesitant to have surgeries or invasive procedures performed on them, it’s the perfect treatment to allay those concerns. At the Herschthal practice, our highly trained staff are experts at alleviating any concerns and answering questions that our patients may have.

Injectables: The Key to Anti-Aging

Injectables are Commonplace Now

In today’s society, health and wellness has become an increasingly popular issue. From specialized diets and digital exercise routines to hi-tech laser treatments that help turn back the hands of time on your skin. But one practice has become especially popular in recent years, due to new and improved solutions that are becoming safer and widely embraced by consumers across the globe…injectables.

In the early days of cosmetic treatments, when injectables were first gaining popularity, there was a lot of uncertainty around the safety of the practice, and a lot of doctors were not familiar enough with proper techniques which often made the practice noticeable in clients who received them, and the result was not always a natural or subtle look.

Today, thanks to the widespread popularity of injectables, consumers in virtually every age bracket and in both sexes are eagerly incorporating various forms of injectables into their regimens due to their natural-looking results and abilities to improve overall aesthetics of various areas of the body.

Injectables are used to relax facial wrinkles and folds such as “smile lines”, contour the body such as reducing the appearance of a “double chin” and improve the signs of facial fat loss by creating structure, framework, and volume to the face and lips. There are different types of injectable procedures that improve various areas of concern. Injectables can also be used on other parts of the body, such as the hands, earlobes, buttocks and virtually any other area that needs correcting.

Most Popular Injectables

Botox: an FDA-approved injectable to temporarily make moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines look better in adults.

Kybella: the only FDA-approved injectable treatment that destroys fat cells in the treatment area under the chin to improve your profile.

Juvéderm: Hyaluronic acid, or HA, is a natural substance in the body that delivers volume to the skin. Modified HA is the main ingredient behind Juvederm. Getting treated with Juvederm helps add volume to different areas of the face without surgery while also temporarily restoring the volume loss beneath the surface.

Restylane: Restylane smooths away facial wrinkles and folds, provides subtle lip enhancement, smooths the lines around the mouth, adds lift and volume to the cheeks, and helps reverse the signs of volume loss in the back of the hands.

Sculptra: an FDA-approved injectable that helps gradually replace lost collagen — an underlying cause of facial aging — for results that can last more than two years.

Dysport A prescription injection proven to help smooth the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows without changing the look or movement of the rest of your face. Untreated muscles still work normally, so you can continue to express feelings naturally.

Radiesse: a wrinkle filler used to plump the skin. Immediately, this filler works to add volume under the skin and over time, the benefits continue by stimulating your body’s own natural collagen. The natural results have been shown to last a year or more in many patients, making the treatment results both immediate and long-lasting.

Xeomin: frown lines form when facial expressions are made and the muscle under the skin contracts. Over time, as your skin ages, these repeated expressions cause lasting frown lines. Neurotoxins, such as Xeomin, are prescription medications that block the release of chemicals that cause these muscle contractions so frown lines are softened.

Dermal fillers and injectables are among some of the most popular cosmetic treatments, offering near-instant results with no downtime and no surgery. The Herschthal Practice offers a number of proven dermal filler and injectable treatments to help men and women of all ages achieve their cosmetic goals. If you have questions about injectables, call into our offices to speak with a knowledgeable representative who can help you determine which injectable is right for you to help address any specific concerns you may have.

SoMe: A Revolutionary New Skincare Product

clear skin

SoME is a revolutionary new skincare product that uses a proprietary blend of ingredients created with your very own personal blend of Platelet Rich Plasma. To say that it is a customized skin care experience would be an understatement! There is a vast array of anti-aging creams, serums, injections and procedures that can be done to potentially confer cosmetic benefits to you. None of those options are truly customized for your skin in the way that SoMe is.

What is Platelet Rich Plasma?

platelets

Platelet Rich Plasma is also known as autologous conditioned plasma. PRP is a concentrate that consists of platelet-rich proteins that come from blood—plasma proteins. They are obtained by spinning the blood in a centrifuge so that the red blood cells are separated out and all that’s left is the PRP. PRP has been seeing greater interest and testing in a variety of medicinal arenas, most notably tissue repair and other orthopedic concerns.

Why is PRP Good For Your Skin?

Well, if PRP is a promising lead on tissue regeneration in orthopedics, the real question is why? PRP contains a wide variety of growth factors that your body uses to facilitate its own natural regenerative abilities. Manufacturing these and combining them with a compatible topical formulation has been proven to confer anti-aging benefits to the user. Don’t believe us? Check out our before and after pictures on our Science Behind SoMe page!

A randomized blind split-face study was done to test the potency of the product. One experiment consisted of just using the SoMe base as a skincare product—and while it did confer some benefits to the user, it was clear that the real results came from a combination of our proprietary base and the PRP. In other words, SoMe has shown to be a potent natural restorative product that reduces the degeneration of the skin by supplementing the collagen and elastin in the skin. As you may know, collagen and elastin production gradually decreases naturally with age.

How is SoMe Used?

Usage is simple! After having the product created using your own PRP, you simply include it in your daily skincare routine. SoMe is best used after cleansing the skin and before applying any sort of moisturizer or sealant. One of the many benefits of SoMe is that it is indiscriminately beneficial in terms of facial rejuvenation. Many people often have different products for different parts of their face. They may choose to wear a lotion for their face while also applying a particular product to deal with wrinkles on the forehead or next to the eyes. The skincare benefits of SoMe are not particular to one part of your face or another.

Can SoMe be Used With Makeup?

Absolutely! SoMe can be used with almost any makeup products. Additionally, we are happy to say that SoMe has also passed all industry-standard irritation tests performed by Aesthetics Biomedical. Still, you should always seek your physician’s counsel if you have a skin condition such as eczema. While it has shown no particular irritation in those with eczema, it is still important to keep your doctor in the loop.

Storing SoMe

Because SoMe is a product created with your very own blood plasma, making it one of the most customized skincare products available, it also means that ordinary room temperature storage will not suffice. To keep the maximum platelet viability, SoME must be refrigerated. The proprietary base that is mixed with the PRP is what allows the PRP to achieve a longer shelf life by preserving its potency for about 3 months.
