It’s Impossible to Keep Skin Pristine

It doesn’t matter who you are, life is tough in various ways. From family to careers, to goals, and much more, the skin will accumulate damage and lose elasticity over the years. The skin, as you may know, is the largest organ in (or on) the human body. The dermis is the middle layer of your skin that props up the epidermis—which is the outermost layer of skin. Collagen is a type of protein that gives the skin its elasticity. Much of the collagen in your skin is located in the dermis.

Much of the changes associated with aging happen, unsurprisingly, in the dermis. Our skin becomes thinner as we age and the cells that are tasked with producing collagen and elastin become increasingly defunct. This results in skin that is deteriorating and unable to maintain or repair itself over time. The organization of proteins in the skin is also changed, thus altering the texture of the skin.

What is Ultherapy?

Have you heard of Ultherapy? It’s an incredible procedure that is FDA approved to lift and tighten skin on the face, neck, and chest. For patients who do not wish to go under the knife or receive a facelift, Ultherapy is a perfect choice. Ultherapy non-surgical facial contouring works by using the power of ultrasound technology. Ultrasound waves penetrate the skin into the dermal layer to stimulate the production of collagen without damaging the surrounding tissues, this is arguably the most important benefit of using ultrasound. While ultrasound waves do not confer benefit as quickly as going under the knife, it is a far less harsh procedure that is capable of penetrating deeper into the treatment area without requiring invasive means.

How Is Ultherapy Different From Laser Treatment?

Laser treatment certainly has its own benefits, but the most common consensus would be that laser treatments are effective at handling the surface area of the skin—so treatments such as the laser skin resurfacing procedure we offer is a prime example of this technology used appropriately.

Facial Contouring Using Ultherapy

Facial contouring is best achieved using Ultherapy. By stimulating the production of collagen deeper into the skin, a tightening and lifting effect is achieved over time. The “trouble” areas that many people have are also very receptive to Ultherapy treatment. Areas such as the brow, which is notably very receptive to Ultherapy,  can be raised a couple of millimeters even. This creates a lengthening effect that will have a slight rollover effect on the eyes. The chin is another area that stands to benefit greatly from sessions.

How is Ultherapy Treatment Administered?

One of the greatest benefits of Ultherapy treatment is that unlike surgery, there is no downtime whatsoever. Many people report a slight tingle that can lead to some temporary discomfort or redness in the treated area. Other than that, however, you are free to do as you please before and after treatments. The Herschthal practice asserts that the initial Ultherapy treatment is sufficient at stimulating collagen production, and results can be observed within 30-90 days thereafter. Maintenance sessions are recommended every 2-5 years. The benefits over time for this treatment are fantastic.
